Today, the national flag carrier of Sri Lanka is a proud organization with several destinations within its reach and millions of happy customers who swear by the quality of service that SriLankan Airlines presents.
The closure of Air Ceylon in 1978 prompted the Government of Sri Lanka to put in place operations for a new airline that could represent the country. This decision gave birth to Air Lanka. Later on, in 1998, the airline underwent a drastic change with a complete makeover that matched the modern pace of the aviation industry. Thus was born SriLankan Airlines.

It has also been awarded the ‘Best Airline in Central Asia’ title by Skytrax four times in a row.
